Self Service Airline Rank Selection in Discord
What’s it all about?
In order to remove a little more friction from the experience in the VirtualFlight.Online Discord server, you can now update your own virtual airline rank.
There is a new channel called va-rank-requests, with self-explanatory guidance within (just click a button to update your rank).
To get access to the new channel you still need to update your nickname in the discord server, and tell us via the va-onboarding channel. Once you’ve done that, we give you access to all of the channels that are private to virtual airline pilots.
If you’re wondering why you might bother to update Discord with your virtual airline rank, it allows you to show off the rank you have achieved to the rest of the Discord server membership. On the right side of Discord there is an optional “Member List” - which groups the members in order of rank.
A reminder of how the airline works
If you’ve joined the VirtualFlight.Online discord server for the group flights, and have no clue about the airline, all can be explained via the Codex - our online reference guide.
In short, alongside the community we have a “Virtual Airline”, which anybody can join. By filing flights through the integrated “ACARS” software, or via manual “PIREPs” (pilot reports), each flight your do accrues hours, and those hours count towards your rank - starting off at Student Pilot, and proceeding all the way towards Class A Captain.
The airline has very few rules, and gives you all sorts of idea of routes to fly around the world - with many Tours covering every corner of the world, tailored for the different classes of aircraft. Should the tours not appeal there are scheduled routes, charters, and free flights too.
If you have any questions about the airline, feel free to start a topic in the Forum channel.
