A quick update on group flights, events, and recent videos!

Group Flight in the Hawaiian Islands

On Sunday 29th January 2023 at 2000 UTC, we are hosting a group flight exploring the Hawaiian Islands - starting on the Island of Hawai'i and ending on O'ahu.

The final leg passes Honolulu, and Pearl Harbour - worth a detour!

Flight Plan

There is a flightplan to download in Discord - described by the notes below. Feel free to use navigation solutions at your disposal to make your own plan, follow the notes, or follow the pack!

  • PHMU Waimea-Kohala - departure

  • PHUP Upolu - touch and go

  • PHHN Hana - touch and go

  • PHOG Kahului - half way break

  • PHJH Kapalua - touch and go

  • PHMK Molokai - touch and go

  • PHJR Kalaeloa - destination

Suggested Aircraft

Any aircraft capable of 120 knots or more in cruise to complete the flight in a timely manner (we try to keep flights under 2 hours).

Voice Communications

To talk to fellow pilots during the flight, visit the VirtualFlight.Online discord server: https://bit.ly/virtualflightonlinediscordserver

If you've never used Discord before, find out more here: https://virtualflight.online/discord

Multiplayer Network

If you want to see other aircraft within Microsoft Flight Simulator, make sure the following are configured:

  1. You must have Multiplayer data switched on

  2. You must select "All Players" in flight conditions

  3. Choose the "SOUTH EAST ASIA" mutiplayer server

If you would like to see other aircraft within LittleNavMap while en-route, check out the Transmitter app - available for free from: https://virtualflight.online/transmitter

Rules / Guidelines

  • If joining the Discord server for voice communications during the flight, conversation must remain family friendly, respectful, and not stray into any subjects that might offend such as adult jokes, politics, religion, racism, or hate-speech.

  • Try to stay with the group! If the group is becoming stretched, loop back and join the rear of the group.

  • Try to stay online until everybody has landed at the final airfield.

The February Tour - European Cities

Throughout February the Virtual Airline has a new event to take part in - touring the major European cities. To change the pace a little the legs vary from 350 to 450 nautical miles - essentially becoming hour-long hops for most of the civil aviation aircraft.

The legs can be completed in any order - meaning you can easily arrange to fly a leg together with each other, should you wish to.

The legs visit the following airports:

  • EGCC Manchester, England

  • LFPB Le Bourget, Paris, France

  • LEBL El Prat, Barcelona, Spain

  • LIRF Fiumicino, Rome, Italy

  • LHBP Ferihegy, Budapest, Hungary

  • EDDB Brandenburg Airport, Berlin, Germany

  • ESSA Arlada, Stockholm, Sweden

  • EYVI Vilnius, Lithuania

  • EFHK Vantaa, Helsinki, Finland

  • ENGM Gardermoen, Oslo, Norway

  • EKCH Kastrup, Copenhagen, Denmark

  • EHAM Schiphol, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

  • LSGG Geneva, Switzerland

  • LOWG Graz, Austria

  • EPWA Okecie, Warsaw, Poland

  • UKBB Boryspil', Kyiv, Ukraine

  • LROP Henri Coanda, Bucharest, Romania

  • LGAV Eleftherios Venizelos, Athens, Greece

  • LDSP Kastela, Split, Croatia

  • LICJ Punta Raisi, Palermo, Sicily

  • LEPA Palma, Mallorca

  • LXGB Gibraltar

Remember you cannot start flying the legs until 1st February!

Aircraft Everywhere

While quite a few GA aircraft were on offer in the Flight Simulator marketplace recently I took the plunge and bought them - then worked through them one after another recording videos - either flying them for the first time, or taking them for a short trip.

Granted, they are not all study level aircraft, but sometimes you just want to relax with the simulator for an hour - and they are mostly perfect for that.

Enjoy!

I also took a trip down memory lane with the Airbus and the Boeing this month - trying to remind myself how they both work more than anything:
