Changes and Additions at VirtualFlight.Online
Evolving the Discord Server
I kind of feel sorry for the VirtualFlight.Online Discord Server - it’s been through a lot over the years - where we’ve tried so many things out - much like throwing spaghetti at the wall to see if it sticks.
We’ve got the spanners out again - here’s what has changed:
The simulator specific forums were not being used very regularly - therefore they are all being merged into “one forum to rule them all” (predictably titled “forum”) within the Community section - where you can still post about any of the simulators, and can tag your topic with the appropriate simulator.
The airline forum has also gone the same way - now a tag in the forum - so if you have a question about the airline, you can start a topic in the forum and just tag it “airline”.
We have retired the airline ranks functionality in Discord - which was fun, but ultimately just a cosmetic thing that grouped members names in the margin of Discord by their claimed rank (if you were even showing the list of names).
The above changes will make the moderators jobs a LOT easier than it has been in the past - it means they can just re-tag your topics, rather than ask you to post in a different form (it’s been a problem in Discord - allowing topics of messages to be moved has been the number one requested feature for as long as I can remember).
We’re renaming the “general” chat channel to “water-cooler”.
Mid-week group flights
Alongside the popular weekend flights that the fantastic team of event planners have been running for the last several years, we’re going to start some regular mid-week flights - with times and dates varying - so different time-zones around the world should be able to take part easily.
Keep an eye on the Events list in Discord - where you’ll be able to see any upcoming events, and register your interest.
