Airline and Forum Mail Server replaced!
As some of you may have dicovered, the mail server used by both the airline, and the forum, was failing to send email out to you. I’ve now fixed it by (drumroll…) replacing the mail server entirely.
If you’re wondering why it happened - VirtualFlight.Online runs on shared webspace. It’s pretty powerful shared webspace, but it’s shared - which means we have neighbours - and it turns out you can never quite trust your neighbours.
Somebody among our neighbours was obviously using the server (which has a static IP address, and is therefore traceable) to send out spam - which caused the server to get black-listed by a couple of anti-spam agencies that are relied on by the likes of Microsoft, Apple, and so on to tell them if email originating from a given server is trustworthy.
So… long story short, I have signed up with a specialist email SMTP service which IS trusted, and have wired up both the forum and airline to send email out to it.
If you were having trouble signing up for the airline or forum, and confirming your email address, you shouldn’t have that problem any more.
While on the subject of support, if you want to get help about anything to do with VirtualFlight.Online, your best bet is to start a topic in the support forum.
